The Justice Agency for International Arbitration seeks quality, diversity and balance in its membership. Membership criteria include intellectual achievements and experience; Degree of experience, interest and current involvement in international arbitration and dispute resolution matters; the promise of future accomplishments and service in law; potential contributions to the work of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration; The willingness and ability to participate in the activities of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration; And standing among peers. Members of the Council of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration are elected 1 times a year by the Board of Directors.

Individual membership requirements
- Persons who are university-qualified in all practical specializations can apply for membership in the Justice Agency for International Arbitration to be certified arbitrators in their field of specialization. As for persons who are not university-qualified, they must indicate this in the membership application so that they can be contacted and guided on the specialization path provided by the agency to be Certified international arbitrators.
- Candidates for membership must be at least 22 years old if they have a university qualification and at least 28 years old if they do not have a university qualification.
- The candidate for membership must obtain a letter of endorsement from a current member of the Agency or be affiliated with or working for an institution that holds membership in the Justice Agency for International Arbitration.

Candidates and supporters
Candidates are responsible for securing their candidates. The Justice Agency for International Arbitration relies on its members to identify, nominate or endorse potential members distinguished in international arbitration matters as candidates for membership. All letter writers are advised to commit to supporting candidates if they find them to be qualified members. The first paragraph of nomination and endorsement letters must include a clear and comprehensive statement about the person nominated. Thoughtful, frank, and objective comments are far more effective than formal endorsements of candidates.
Nomination letters
Candidates must be nominated in writing by a current JIA member. Nomination letters must not exceed five hundred words in length and must address the following criteria, which have always been central to the Committee’s consideration of candidates for membership:
• Intellectual achievement and experience
• Degree of experience, interest and current involvement in international arbitration matters or in other arbitration-related areas.
• The promise of achievement and continuous interaction within the member community.
• Potential contributions to the work of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration
• Desire and ability to participate in the activities of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration
• Stand out among their peers
Guidelines for candidates and supporters
- All letters must be submitted through the online application. Once a candidate enters the letter writer’s information into the online application, the letter writer will immediately receive an email with instructions on how to submit their letter securely.
- Officers of the Board of Directors of the Justice Agency for International Arbitration as well as members of the Board of Directors and Membership Committee may nominate or write letters of endorsement on behalf of any nominee.
- A spouse, close relative (such as parent, sibling, or cousin) or relative of a candidate may formally nominate or endorse that candidate for membership.
- Members are encouraged to nominate as many potential members as possible to benefit from benefits within the agency community.
If members write multiple letters during the application round, it is recommended that they make comparative judgments about the candidates where appropriate.
Individual membership fee is £495 per annum.
